I didn’t want to be the last person with an opinion to not have a podcast, so today I’m excited to announce the launch of SOME THINGS CONSIDERED, and I invite you to check it out, subscribe, and spread the word!!!

Backstory: I’ve been talking to creatives going back to my days as an analyst writing about and discussing the tech industry, and I’ve had too many awesome discussions to count since founding 1455 seven years ago. Hosting a podcast seems a natural and challenging extension of this work, and it allows me to cast a wider net: of course I’ll continue to chat with writers and there are few things I find more enjoyable than comparing notes on craft, community, and the necessary evil of promotion. I will also speak with artists from every conceivable genre, people in and outside the literary industry, and this being America in 2024, the state of our sociopolitical scene. Mostly, I want to dive deep into what makes creative people tick, and why story matters more than ever.

SOME THINGS CONSIDERED will feature conversations with the most accomplished minds spanning the literary, music, and tech industries. I’ll bring my decades of experience as a cultural critic, professor, and founder of a literary non-profit to explore and celebrate the ways stories define us as artists and human beings. This podcast will peel back the layers of creativity, examining why it matters and how brilliant minds achieve mastery. Each episode features authentic discussions about craft, routines, and the personal journeys of successful storytellers.

If you like what you hear, let me know (and tell some friends), also tell me who you think I should be talking to, and what I can do to make this podcast as interesting and useful as possible. I remain committed to advocating for the arts by any means necessary, and I thank you for joining me to celebrate our creatives, who are the life blood of our culture.

First 5 episodes available everywhere you find podcasts, featuring Brian Broome, Jeannine Ouellette, Courtney Maum, James Millner, and Sarah Jane Tune in and subscribe to get weekly episodes in your inbox at seanmurphy.live
